On 29th July, 2024, the pupils of pre-primary 1, pre-primary 2, class 1 and 2 embarked on an exciting and educational study tour to Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA). The visit aimed to provide the young learners with practical exposure to the workings of an airport, focusing on transportation, communication, and airport operations. A total of 50 pupils, accompanied by 3 teachers participated in this tour.

The group left school in the morning by using 2 school buses to travel to KIA. Along theway, they sang songs and talked about what they expected to see. The group arrived at KIA at 9:00 a.m., where they were warmly welcomed by the airport’s public relation team. All the pupils were very excited to visit an airport for the first time. They were then briefed on the day’s activities and given a brief overview of the importance of airports in connecting people and places around the world. The pupils were told that KIA is one of the largest airports in Tanzania and is used to by people traveling to different parts of the world. The staff gave the group special passes to enter the different sections of the airport.

The pupils tour started at the observation deck where they could see planes landing and taking off. The pupils were thrilled to see large airplanes up close. They were also taken to the luggage handling area, where they learned how each passenger’s bag is carefully handled and delivered.

After an exciting day at the airport, the teachers, on behalf of the pupils thanked the airport staff for their time and hospitality. It was unforgettable experience, and the pupils enjoyed every moment of it. The pupils returned to school in the afternoon, filled with new knowledge and wonderful memories. The study tour to KIA was both fun and educational. On 30th July another group of 56 pupils (pre-primary 1, Pre-primary 2, class 1 and 2) escorted by 4 teachers and a school accountant, visited KIA. Almost all what have been explained above, apply also to this second group’s study tour.
